How to use InterLibrary Loan (ILL)

ILL stands for Inter Library Loan. It is the process by which a student or patron may acquire texts and materials which are housed at other libraries. Generally a patron or student must be recognized as a current user of the library in order to gain the materials. These materials are processed exactly like other books and materials at their resident libraries and thus follow that library's policies as far as condition and due dates.

You can find the option for Inter Library Loan in the public access catalog. When you see an entry that you wish to gain, simply click Request at the top left corner of the entry.

When you click the link it will take you to the request page where you may fill out the form.  You will need to know your University ID number and be a current student, faculty, staff or patron at your library.

Your University ID is located on your ID CARD! The Lincoln University Code is LU.

Keep in mind that you need to have 9 digits before the LU code, just like your Social Security Number. (Do NOT use your Social Security Number). If you have an ID number that is less than 9 digits use 0 as a filler.

For example: 000001234LU

If trying to get an article, you may have the option to tick for an email version.

Once your request is sent it will be processed by the library it was sent to and your item will either be sent to the pick up location or be sent to the email address indicated.
