Library of Congress Classification

Page Library uses the Library of Congress (LC) classification system to organize books by specific subjects.  The LC system uses letters and numbers to do this.  Most materials on accounting will be held in the subclasses HF-Marketing and Advertising and GV-sports Marketing

To browse the library's holdings for materials on a specific accounting topic, one must search for the topic by using the library's online catalog.  Using the online catalog one will be able to find a more specific call number for the topic.

Professional Organizations and Resources

Listed below are important professional organizations within the field of accounting.  Important information, current trends, and news can be found at each of the organization's websites.

  • American Factfinder
    A source for population, housing, economic, and geographic information. American Factfinder allows users to search census data or use the Fact Sheet for an overview of the information. Maps and other tools are available to locate trends in demographic information.
  • U.S. Census Bureau
    The leading source of Census data. This is a good source for demographic data. Users are able to limit as narrow data sets to a specific county or city. The U.S. Census Bureau also offers a mobile app for users.
  • American Marketing Association
    The American Marketing Association is a professional association for marketing individuals, academics, executives, organizations and others interested in marketing. The AMA is a leader the practice, teaching and development of marketing knowledge. The AMA offers a Resource Library, Event Calender, Career Management Center and a community for the use of marketing professionals.
  • Marketing Research Association
    The MRA is a professional association dedicated to all areas of marketing. Areas include promoting, unifying and supporting the marketing field. Members include companies and individuals involved in the research, data collection, and opinion of the marketing field.
  • Association of National Advertisers
    According to the ANA they are "the industry's premier marketing and advertising trade association, the only organization exclusively dedicated to serving the interests of corporations that advertise and market their products and services in the U.S."
